Raquel Guzman is an award-winning attorney, public speaker, and successful investor in both the restaurant and real estate industries, with a portfolio of residential and commercial properties in Michigan and Tulum, Mexico.
Raquel enjoys breaking down stereotypes and facing challenges head on. A native Spanish speaker, she moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic and learned English while pursuing her law degree. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Michigan State College of Law.
Raquel has been named Michigan Weekly’s Women In The Law, Michigan Super Lawyer’s Rising Star, West Michigan’s 40 under 40 Business Leaders, and has been recognized multiple times as one of the Most Influential Women in West Michigan by the Grand Rapids Business Journal. She has been invited to the White House twice, in 2008 as a guest of President George W. Bush and in 2015, during President Barack Obama term, to attend a policy briefing for leaders from across the country where Senior Administration Officials discussed the President’s priorities in immigration reform, workforce development, early childhood education, international affairs and other issues.
Raquel has traveled to 54 countries, attended classes with the Dalai Lama in India, survived whitewater rafting in Africa’s Zambezi River, and plummeted 108 stories to earth from the Stratosphere Sky Jump in Las Vegas. She is also an avid hiker, having hiked Mt. Fuji in Japan and having reached the summit of many mountains, including Pico Duarte in the Dominican Republic, the Inca Trail's Dead Womens Pass in Peru, and Mount Kilimanjaro, in Africa, one of the seven summits of the world.
As successful as she has been, she finds nearly nothing in her life, however, as amazing and as rewarding as mentoring others, raising her daughter Laura, dancing with her husband Rene, and hanging out with her friends.
